Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for September 8-14, 2025, were announced Monday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Earning the spotlight this week are sophomore Alvaro Iglesias Pascual (golf) and freshman Rocío Gutiérrez (women’s soccer)

Gutiérrez, who hails from Madrid, Spain, made an immediate impact on the pitch. She tallied a goal and an assist—contributing three points—in Tech’s commanding 3-0 shutout win over Carolina University. The freshman standout finished her week with two shots on frame, powering the Golden Bears to victory.
