Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for September 29–October 5, 2025, were announced Monday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Earning the spotlight this week are freshmen Heidar Bjarnason (men’s golf) and Wyatt Plumley (esports – Overwatch 2 / Marvel Rivals, “Plum”).

Plumley, a freshman from Beaver, West Virginia, powered WVU Tech esports to a 3-0 sweep of Purdue in NECC Overwatch 2 play. Competing under the gamertag “Plum,” he posted a team-high 54 eliminations with just eight deaths, dealing more than 26,000 damage across three maps. Earlier in the week, Plumley tallied 36 kills and 20 assists in Marvel Rivals competition, earning SVP honors in Game Two. His all-around offensive impact led Tech to its first Overwatch 2 victory of the season and capped one of the program’s strongest multi-title performances of the year.
