The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Nov. 17–23, 2025. This week’s honors go to freshman Tiago Costa of WVU Tech men’s soccer and sophomore Troy Harris of WVU Tech wrestling, who delivered championship-winning performances.

Tiago Costa (Lisbon, Portugal)

Costa delivered one of the most unforgettable moments of WVU Tech’s postseason, smashing home the golden goal in the 100th minute to lift the Golden Bears to a 4–3 overtime victory over No. 14 Madonna in the NAIA National Championship Second Round.

The freshman defender rose at the back post on a corner from Hugo Roman, redirecting the service for the walk-off winner that sent Tech to the Round of 16 in Orange Beach. Costa’s poise in the biggest moment helped extend Tech’s unbeaten season to 19 matches and secure one of the program’s most dramatic national tournament victories.
