WVU Tech Athletics has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Sept. 1-6, recognizing junior Julia Silva of women's soccer and freshman Joost Hermeling of men's soccer for standout performances during the week.

Silva totaled two goals and one assist for five points across WVU Tech's three matches during the week. She contributed an assist in the Golden Bears' 4-3 comeback victory at Milligan before scoring both Tech goals against Southeastern.

Against Southeastern, Silva scored twice in a span of 2:40 late in the second half, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 3-2 game. She finished the week with eight shots, including three on goal, while logging 201 minutes across the three contests.

Silva is a junior central attacking midfielder/striker majoring in biology.
