Bill Auxier is a 1971 graduate of WV Tech. During his athletic career as a Golden Bear, Bill was a 4 year starter for the late Pete Phillips and served as a co-captain in his Junior and Senior seasons for WV Tech.

On the hardwood, Auxier held down the point guard position in his first two seasons before moving to his more natural off guard position. Known as a long range shooter, Bill had career highs of 44 points versus Salem and 42 points versus Tech’s bitter rival, Morris Harvey (University of Charleston). In 1967, he was named to the WVIAC All-Tournament Team as a freshman after playing a key role in a memorable four overtime game versus Fairmont State. The following season, Auxier left his mark on the WV Conference again, leading the way in Free Throw Shooting percentage.

After graduation, he taught and coached at Nicholas County High School and St. Marys High School for 34 years. Bill is married to the former Susan Campbell who is also a graduate of WV Tech (1971), and has two sons, Andy and Matt, both whom were All-State basketball players in high school before moving on to play in college.
