CHARLESTON, West Virginia - The WVU Tech women's soccer team celebrated their seniors,
Sierrah Soto,
Creshana Jones,
Ashley Collins and
Yehilin Davila Tuesday evening at the Schoenbaum Soccer Complex. The Golden Bears and Georgetown College (Kentucky) ended their match-up after double overtime, knotted 0-0.
After the draw, Tech is now 3-7-3 on the season while Georgetown's record is 7-8-2.
In the first half, the Golden Bears were able to get seven shots off with freshmen
Tristen Kilman (2x) and
Tyler Graves, Soto, Jones, Davila and sophomore
Alyssa Capon contributing for Tech.
For the final 45 minutes of regulation, Tech managed ten shots on goal while Georgetown posted five shots on goal and freshman goalkeeper
Martha Reyna made three saves on those attempts towards a game total of seven.
In the two 10-minute overtime periods, Reyna turned aside three Georgetown shots to ensure the game would end in a tie.
For the game the Tigers held advantages in total shots (16-13) and corner kicks (11-1) while Tech had the edge for shots on goal (10-8).
The Golden Bears will finish their regular season on the road at Fairmont State University Oct. 29 for a 6:30 p.m. start before competing in the 2014 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Soccer National Tournament as the ninth seed. The tournament, being hosted by the Golden Bears, will take place in Charleston, West Virginia Nov. 5-8.
