MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — Senior
Courtney Fisher earned a new career-high by posting 20 rebounds and WVU Tech women's basketball fell in their first conference match-up to Point Park University Wednesday evening. The KIAC contest ended 67-46 giving the Golden Bears a 2-4, 0-1 (KIAC) record in 2015 while the Pioneers are now 5-1, 1-0 (KIAC).
Senior
LaKisha Adkins led the way on offense for Tech with 14 points while marking five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Freshman
Savannah Shamblin hit double-digits again posting 12 points to go with four rebounds. Fisher was one point shy of a double-double scoring nine for Tech while blocking a Pioneer ball.
Freshman
Breanna Propst had six rebounds, three points and a steal for the Golden Bears.
Tech was held to 22.5 percent (18-for-80) shooting from the field while their opponent went 44.7 percent (21-for-47) from the field. The Gold and Blue held advantages in points off turnovers (14-5), second chance points (19-7) and bench points (8-7).
The team will return to play when they travel to Beckley, West Virginia Saturday to face Bluefield State College for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
