Women's Basketball Falls in Semi at A.I.I. Tournament

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The No. 2 seed WVU Tech women's basketball team lost to No. 3 seed Cal State San Marcos, 75-65 in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Division I Tournament semi-finals Friday in the Baisi Athletic Center.

Senior Nia Nolan, who was named A.I.I. Player of the Year earlier this week, led the game with 19 points while also dishing a team-high five assists and pulling down five boards. Nolan went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.

Nolan ends her collegiate basketball career with 1,549 points and is currently the all-time leading scorer for WVU Tech women's basketball.

Junior Cheyanne Lusk finished with 18 points to go with four rebounds. Freshman Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo produced 12 points and six rebounds for the Golden Bears.

For the game, Tech held edges over the Cougars in steals (12-5) while forcing 24 turnovers.

Cal State San Marcos was paced by Cassie Damyanovich with 17 points. The Cougars will face No. 1 seed Morris College in the Championship, Saturday, 1:00 p.m. in the Baisi Athletic Center.

WVU Tech ends its season with a record of 16-15.
