BECKLEY, West Virginia — WVU Tech women's soccer captured a 5-1 win over Bluefield College (Virginia) Thursday evening at the Paul Cline Memorial Complex in Beckley, West Virginia. The Golden Bears improve their record to 3-1, 0-1 KIAC while the Rams fall to 1-1.
"It was a great win for us, they beat us last year 2-0," said head coach
Stephanie Kot. "We were ready to win, we were ready to come in today strong."
Tech's five goals came from sophomore
Olivia Mantohbang (20'), freshmen
Brianna Enger (31' and 40') and
Alexis Howell (34') who marked her first collegiate goal and senior
Brenda Rivera (81'). The Golden Bears saw assists from Enger, junior
Alex Blumer and sophomore
Natanya Shingler.
Sophomore
Martha Reyna (2-1) started in goal for Tech, grabbing five saves in 45 minutes.
The team will next host Montreat College in Beckley, West Virginia at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12.
