Tech Ends in 1-1 Draw at Asbury After Double Overtime

Women's Soccer

WILMORE, Kentucky -- WVU Tech women's soccer played 110 minutes in Wilmore, Kentucky against Asbury University Thursday evening where the River States Conference (RSC) contest ended in a 1-1 draw. The Golden Bears are now 7-6-2, 2-2-3 (RSC) while the Eagles hold a record of 9-5-2, 4-2-1 (RSC) after double overtime.

Asbury struck first, scoring their lone goal in the 11th minute of play. Tech didn't answer back until the second period when sophomore Caitlin Foster found the back of the net for an unassisted goal in minute 66.

The teams played a bonus 20 minutes of soccer where Tech got off three shots and the Eagles four, but the game ended with the score from regulation time, 1-1.

The Gold and Blue held the advantage in shots 25 (9) compared to their opponent's 13 (5). The teams were equal with six corner kicks each.

Junior goalkeeper Martha Reyna moved to 7-6-2 defending the net in 2016, making three saves and allowing one goal in the tie.

Tech will end their regular season with another RSC match-up on Saturday when they travel to Cincinnati Christian University for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
