WILLIAMSBURG, Kentucky -- The WVU Tech women's soccer team fell to University of the Cumberlands 2-1 in overtime Saturday evening in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The Golden Bears are now 4-2 in 2016 while the Patriots hold a record of 6-3.
Senior
Alexandra Klein scored quick for the Gold and Blue off a free kick in the ninth minute. The teams remained scoreless until Cumberlands knotted the contest 1-1 with six minutes left to play, forcing bonus soccer.
With the golden goal rule in effect during overtime, Cumberlands struck in the 96
th minute to end the match-up and take the victory.
Junior
Martha Reyna (4-2) had five saves in the loss after 96 minutes of play.
As a team, Tech recorded ten shots with two on goal while the Patriots had 14 shots, eight on goal.
Tech will next host Georgetown College on Tuesday in Beckley, West Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
