CINCINNATI, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's basketball poured in 32 points during the fourth quarter after trailing most of a River States Conference game at Cincinnati Christian University to pick up an 82-75 victory. The Golden Bears, who have won three consecutive, boost their record to 15-7, 7-4 (RSC) while the Eagles fall to 6-14, 3-6 (RSC).
Sophomore
Alexandra Combs recorded ten points and senior
Cheyanna Lusk posted nine in the fourth quarter to help propel the Gold and Blue past Cincinnati Christian. Combs finished 5-for-8 from beyond the arc towards 19 points and Lusk marked 17 points and five rebounds.
Sophomore
Savannah Shamblin, who leads the team in scoring, had a game-best 24 points including a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the foul line. Shamblin also dished four assists and grabbed four steals.
Junior
Zjhane West finished with a double-double of ten points and ten rebounds. West had seven offensive rebounds and four assists.
Under the boards, Shamblin and sophomore
Brett Justice helped Tech win the rebounds advantage, 43-35, against the Eagles with six boards each.
Cincinnati Christian was led by Makenzie Tolson who had 21 points and five rebounds.
The team forced 26 miscues and grabbed ten steals to get 24 points off turnovers against the Eagles compared to their 17 points off turnovers. Tech also held the advantage on points in the paint, 40-22.
WVU Tech will continue conference play tomorrow, Saturday when they travel to Indiana University Kokomo for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
