MONTGOMERY, West Virginia -- After trailing 28-24 at the half, WVU Tech women's basketball shot 100 percent (11-for-11) in the third quarter from the foul line to start their push towards a 61-54 redemption victory over Bluefield College Monday evening. The season series is now 1-1 for the teams since the Golden Bears (11-6) dropped a 54-44 decision at Bluefield (10-7) on November 2.
Senior
Cheyanna Lusk shot 6-for-8 from the bonus line towards her 13 points while sophomore
Alexandra Combs (4-for-4), junior
Zjhane West (2-for-2) and freshman
Carlie Biehl-Wilson (2-for-2) finished perfect when shooting foul shots. Lusk also marked seven rebounds to take her season total to 85.
Sophomore
Savannah Shamblin posted a team-best 14 points including two three-pointers and two assists.
Combs had 11 points and West marked ten to round out Tech's top offensive contributors. Combs also had seven boards while West led the team with four steals and three assists to go with four rebounds.
Freshman
Logan Dudley made a difference under the basket, grabbing six rebounds in the win.
The Rams were led by Danae Cox who had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Tech was held to 33.9 percent (21-for-62) shooting from the field while finishing 83.3 percent (15-for-18) from the foul line. The Rams shot just 37.3 percent (22-for-59) from the floor and managed 41.7 percent (5-for-12) shooting from the free throw line.
The Gold and Blue will return to River States Conference play Saturday when they travel to the University of Rio Grande in Ohio.
