KINGSPORT, Tennessee -- The Golden Bears fell to Union College 73-64 in game one of two during the NAIA DII Showcase in Kingsport, Tennessee Friday evening. WVU Tech is now 4-5 this season while the Bulldogs move to 2-4.
Freshman
Whittney Justice led the team with 11 points while senior
Zjhane West finished with nine. Juniors
Savannah Shamblin and
Alexandra Combs and sophomore
Carlie Biehl-Wilson had eight points each to round out the top offensive contributors.
Under the boards, sophomore
Logan Dudley pulled down a team-best six rebounds while fellow classmate
Laura Requena recorded five.
The team shot 26-for-62 (41.9 percent) from the field while Union finished 24-for-55 (43.6 percent). Tech forced 16 miscues and picked up eight steals.
The Gold and Blue will finish out the NAIA DII Showcase against No. 4 Southeastern University tomorrow, Saturday at 3 p.m.
