BECKLEY, West Virginia -- The WVU Tech women's soccer team defeated Bluefield College 2-0 Wednesday evening at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 4-1 while the Rams drop to 2-3 in 2017.
In the seventh minute, freshman
Johanna Ribacke found the back of the net from 25 yards out to score her second career goal. Sophomore
Miriam Cortez was credited with the assist off a perfect pass to Ribacke.
Freshman
Patricia Fisher netted Tech's final goal in minute 37 off a corner kick from senior
Ruby Bingham. The score also marks Fisher's second goal of the season.
Protecting the net, senior
Martha Reyna (4-1) went 90 minutes and allowed zero goals. Reyna has nine saves this season and a save percentage of .692.
The team will next battle No. T21 Cumberland University on Saturday, September 16. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Beckley, West Virginia.
