BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball had four Golden Bears hit double-digits in their 90-63 non-conference victory over Bluefield State College during the Big Atlantic Classic Wednesday. The Golden Bears improve to 14-11 this season while the Blues move to 2-19.
Junior
Alexandra Combs led Tech with 18 points while freshmen
Brittney Justice (17) and
Alexandria Gray (15) and sophomore
Katelyn Byrd (14) also hit double-digits for the Gold and Blue. Combs also grabbed four rebounds and recorded three assists.
Justice pulled down seven boards to go with six assists and two steals. Gray recorded eight assists, two rebounds and two steals while Byrd had five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Under the boards, sophomore
Laura Requena dominated with 12 rebounds. Requena also posted five points, four assists and two steals. Senior
Zjhane West marked seven points, six rebounds, three blocks and three assists.
As a team, Tech finished 34-for-75 (45.3 percent) from the floor while the Blues shot 18-for-52 (34.6 percent).
Up next, the Golden Bears will return to River States Conference (RSC) play when they travel to University of Rio Grande Saturday.
