PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech's six-game winning streak was snapped Saturday afternoon during River States Conference (RSC) play at Point Park University. After a battle that ended with the Pioneers on top, 61-59, the Golden Bears move to 7-6, 4-1 (RSC) while Point Park holds a record of 3-8, 1-2 (RSC).
The Gold and Blue were led by senior
Savannah Shamblin who posted 15 points to go with three steals and two rebounds.
Junior
Logan Dudley and sophomore
Brittney Justice recorded eight points each while junior
Laura Requena and sophomore
Whittney Justice had seven points a piece.
Under the boards, Requena led the contest with 11 rebounds. B. Justice pulled down six rebounds while senior
Alexandra Combs had five.
Combs and freshman
Madison Vaughn grabbed three steals each.
Point Park's Tyra James came off the bench for a game-best 20 points including six made from beyond the arc.
As a team, Tech finished 23-for-60 (38.3 percent) from the field while the Pioneers were 21-for-59 (35.6 percent). Point Park held the slight advantage in rebounds, 41-39.
The Golden Bears will continue road play on Saturday, December 15 when they travel to Campbellsville University for a non-conference match-up.
