NEW ALBANY, Indiana -- The 2017-18 River States Conference Women's Basketball Tournament bracket and qualifiers have been set, and they were unveiled for at RiverStatesConference.com. No. 3 East WVU Tech will travel to No. 2 West Indiana University Southeast.
The eight-team tournament will be held Feb. 21-27 at campus sites around the RSC. The top four teams from the RSC East and West divisions made the playoffs with the first- and second-place teams hosting quarterfinal games Feb. 21. The semifinals are Feb. 24 with the championship final Feb. 27. The higher seed hosts each game throughout the tournament.
No. 1 overall seed University of Rio Grande (27-3, 15-2 RSC) has earned home-court advantage throughout the tournament and is already guaranteed a spot in the NAIA Division II National Championship as the RSC regular-season champion. The RedStorm is the champion of the RSC East Division and begins the tournament Feb. 21 versus No. 4 seed Brescia (Ky.) University (12-18, 8-10 RSC) from the RSC West.Â
The other No. 1 seed is Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College (22-4, 15-3 RSC), the RSC West Division champion. The Eagles won their division by 5.0 games and open the tournament Feb. 21 at home versus No. 4 seed Point Park (Pa.) University (17-10, 12-5 RSC) of the RSC East.Â
On Rio Grande's side of the bracket, the other quarterfinal matchup is No. 2 seed IU Southeast (18-11, 10-8 RSC) from the RSC West hosting No. 3 seed WVU Tech (18-12, 12-5 RSC) from the RSC East.Â
On Alice Lloyd's half of the draw, No. 2 seed IU East (21-9, 13-4 RSC) from the RSC East hosts No. 3 seed Midway (Ky.) University (17-13, 9-9 RSC) from the RSC West.Â
The RSC Tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Division II national tournament. If Rio Grande wins the tournament, then RSC West Division champion Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College will receive the conference's other bid to nationals.Â
