SUMMERSVILLE, West Virginia -- At the Summersville Arena and Convention Center, WVU Tech women's basketball defeated River States Conference (RSC) opponent Ohio Christian University 80-69 and extended their winning streak to ten. The streak marks the most consecutive victories for a Golden Bear team since at least 2007.
Tech now holds a record of 17-8, 12-1 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 1-21, 0-13 (RSC).
The team was led by sophomore
Brittney Justice who marked 18 points while fellow classmate
Whittney Justice and junior
Laura Requena had 16 a piece.
B. Justice also had five rebounds, five assists and two steals while W. Justice posted three rebounds and two assists.
Requena marked her sixth consecutive double-double with a game-best 12 rebounds. She also had four assists and a steal.
Sophomore
Alexandria Gray finished with eight points while senior
Alexandra Combs and freshman
ShanEttine Butler had six points each.
Ohio Christian was led by Maddie O'Connell who posted 25 points and eight rebounds.
As a team, Tech finished 32-for-66 (48.5 percent) from the field and totaled 39 rebounds. The Trailblazers shot 25-for-53 (47.2 percent) and pulled down 27 boards.
WVU Tech will continue conference play when they travel to Indiana University East Saturday for a 1 p.m. tipoff in Richmond, Indiana.
