RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- (RV) WVU Tech women's basketball took down Wilberforce University 101-82 Friday evening during the Super Eight Classic hosted by University of Rio Grande. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 4-3 while the Bulldogs move to 2-4.
Tech and the game were led by junior
Whittney Justice who poured in 25 points including a 7-for-12 effort from beyond the arc. The Danese, West Virginia native also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Fellow junior and twin sister, junior
Brittney Justice, finished with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Senior
Laura Requena recorded a double-double of 16 points and ten rebounds while producing two assists and a steal.
Junior
Alexandria Gray (13) and sophomore
ShanEttine Butler (11) also hit double-digits for the Gold and Blue.
Junior
Kathylee Pinnock Branford marked the game-best seven assists to go with eight points, six rebounds and two steals.
As a team, Tech finished with 56.1 percent shooting from the field while holding Wilberforce to 44.6 percent shooting.
The Golden Bears will finish out the classic tomorrow, Saturday when they face Fisk University at 1 p.m.
