PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech women's basketball picked up its first River States Conference (RSC) victory after defeating Carlow University 74-47 Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 2-2, 1-0 (RSC) while the Celtics move to 1-2, 0-1 (RSC).
Senior
Laura Requena finished with a double-double effort of 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Gold and Blue.
Junior
Brittney Justice also finished with a double-double, pouring in 16 points to go with 12 rebounds.
Fellow junior
Kathylee Pinnock Branford posted 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Junior
Alexandria Gray recorded eight points and pulled down seven rebounds to go with two steals and two assists.
Senior
Carlie Biehl-Wilson grabbed eight boards while junior
Isabel Barrio had four rebounds.
Tech finished with 34.1 percent (28-for-82) shooting from the floor while the Celtics shot 28.3 percent (17-for-60) from the field.
The Golden Bears also held the advantage in second chance points (15-6) and points in the paint (24-14).
On Saturday, the team will return to the court to face Wright State Lake University in Celina, Ohio.
