Savannah Shamblin earned her 1,569
th career-point and is now the program's all-time leading scorer, surpassing a record set by
Nia Nolan (1,568 points) in 2015.
For the final of the championship, the Golden Bears (23-9) will host No. 1 (West) Alice Lloyd College (20-7) Tuesday, February 26. Alice Lloyd defeated Indiana University East 81-74 to advance to the finals. When the teams met during the regular season, the Gold and Blue took an 81-71 win over the Eagles January 15 in Beckley.
Senior
Alexandra Combs led the Golden Bears with 22 points including a 10-for-13 effort from the bonus line. Combs also had four steals, two assists and a rebound.
Shamblin poured in 19 points to go with nine assists and four rebounds.
Sophomore
Whittney Justice was a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line, finishing with 18 points, a rebound and a steal.
Junior
Carlie Biehl-Wilson also hit double-digits, marking 11 points while pulling down five boards and recording a block.
Fellow junior
Laura Requena had nine rebounds, six points and three blocks.
Sophomore
Brittney Justice dished seven assists and had seven points and three rebounds.
Tipoff for the final is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Fans are encouraged to wear gold gear for the GOLD RUSH.
