PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's soccer dropped a tough battle at Shawnee State University Wednesday evening, 2-1, in double overtime. Shawnee State improves its record to 2-2 while the Golden Bears move to 0-3.
Freshman
Anna Baker recorded her first collegiate goal in the 28
th minute to send the score to 1-1 and eventually force overtime. Junior
Patricia Fisher connected with Baker for the assist.
Shawnee's first score was credited to Alex Raudier in minute six while the golden goal was posted in the 102
nd minute by Brenna Woodard.
Both teams marked nine shots on frame including a game-high four from Tech's junior
Yasmin Del Valle. The Golden Bears held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-1.
In goal, sophomore
Jenna Miller made seven saves after a complete game while Shawnee's keeper Hannah Bolender was forced to make eight Golden Bear stops.
The Gold and Blue return to action Saturday, September 14 when they travel to Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
