RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- No. 6 WVU Tech pulled out the upset after penalty kicks against No. 3 University of Rio Grande in a quarterfinal of the River States Conference Championship. The Golden Bears will next face No. 2 Indiana University East April 6 in Richmond, Indiana.
After double overtime and a score of 0-0, Tech and the RedStorm were forced to battle in PKs. WVU Tech's keeper, junior
Jenna Miller, stopped Rio's first attempt and the Golden Bears excelled from there, winning 4-1 in PKs for the W.
Miller, a native of Jackson, Texas, recorded nine saves after 110 minutes of action, allowing zero goals in that time. Rio's keeper, Morgan Netter was forced to make six stops.
The Gold and Blue's made penalty kicks came from juniors

Patricia Fisher.

Jacinda Chapman, Pallant, sophomore
Jenefer Luguvi, Del Valle, Fisher and Dye each had a shot on goal.
Up next for the semifinal, No. 6 WVU Tech will head to No. 2 IU East who holds a record of 9-3-1 overall. During the regular season, the Golden Bears fell to the Red Wolves 3-1.Â
