BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's soccer opened its season in a battle with Shawnee State University, falling 2-1 after 90 minutes in Beckley. Senior
Brittany Dye scored her 17th career goal and posted three shots on frame.Â
Shawnee State struck first, posting goals from Daan Louwerse (31') in the first half followed by a score from Paige Alford (62') in the final 45 minutes of the match.
Dye found the back of the net in minute 84, sailing the ball past goalkeeper Leonie Heck. The senior was assisted by freshman
Keatley Michael.
Tech also saw shots on goal from freshman
Ana Gay Mesa and junior
Anna Baker.
The Golden Bears had two keepers protect the goal including senior
Jenna Miller who recorded five saves after 62 minutes while junior
Holly Staniforth made three stops in 29 minutes of play.Â
WVU Tech will return to action Wednesday, August 25 when they travel to Carolina University.
