BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball had a dominate second half to help push them past Oakland City University 86-72 in River States Conference (RSC) action Thursday evening. The Golden Bears move to 5-3 in conference play while the Mighty Oaks hold a record of 4-3 (RSC).Â
Tech was down 38-30 after the first half before outscoring Oakland City 56-34 in the final 20 minutes of the match-up. The Gold and Blue also held the edge under the boards, grabbing 57 compared to the Mighty Oaks 39.
Four WVU Tech players hit double digits including a game-high 25 points from
Brittney Justice and double-double efforts from
Alyssa Taylor and
Brianna Ball.
B. Justice also had seven rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal.
Taylor finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Ball came off the bench to produce 13 points and ten boards. Ball also had five assists, three steals and two blocks.
Whittney Justice, who was 8-for-9 from the foul line, produced 14 points and six rebounds.
Makayla Jones finished with eight points, six rebounds and two assists while
Leonor Ferreira had six rebounds and five points.
Emilee Whitt posted seven points and three assists.
Tech will continue conference play Saturday when they host Brescia University at Summersville Arena.
