Golden Bears hampered by Alice Lloyd in conference play

Women's Basketball

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball dropped a tough 71-63 River States Conference (RSC) decision to Alice Lloyd College Saturday. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 9-4, 3-2 (RSC) while the Eagles move to 9-1, 4-0 (RSC).

Junior Faith N. Silva drained seven from beyond the arc towards a game-best 28 points to go with four boards, two steals and an assist.

Sophomore Ca'Vashia Johnson also hit double-digits, recording ten points for the Gold and Blue. Johnson also had five assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block.

Senior Alyssa Taylor pulled down the team's high nine rebounds to go with four points, a steal and an assist.

Freshman Alva Hedrich finished with seven points and seven rebounds for Tech.

The team was 33.9 percent (19-for-56) from the floor while the Eagles shot 43.5 percent (27-for-62). Alice Lloyd also held the edge under the boards with 40 rebounds compared to Tech's 34 boards.

WVU Tech will get away from conference play when they travel to Bluefield University Saturday, December 17.
