MONTREAT, North Carolina -- WVU Tech wrestling competed in duals against host school (RV) Montreal College and Truett McConnell University Saturday. The Golden Bears dropped the match-ups 44-8 (vs. Montreat) and 40-17 (vs. Truett McConnell).
At 157 lbs., freshman
John Grundmeyer was 2-0 Saturday defeating Mason Johnson (Truett McConnell) with a technical fall (16-0, 2:46) and Bryson McGraw (Montreat) with a technical fall (19-2, 4:06).
Senior
Drake De La Cruz was also undefeated with a fall (4:50) over Ian James (Truett McConnell) and an 8-6 decision over Dalton Towe (Montreat) at 174 lbs.
Tech will return to the mat in about a month for its first home event January 11 when they host Patrick & Henry Community College and Southwestern Community College.
