BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball recorded a 105-95 River States Conference (RSC) victory over No. 18 University of Rio Grande Thursday evening. The Golden Bears move to 10-14, 8-5 (RSC) while the RedStorm hold a record of 23-2, 11-1 (RSC).
An efficient offense of 53.6 percent (37-for-69) shooting from the floor and six Golden Bears hitting double-digits pushed Tech over Rio Grande for the huge upset win. Tech also held the edge on rebounds, 51-36.
Whittney Justice and
Brittney Justice led the offense with 23 points each. Whittney, who hit five from beyond the arc, finished with six assists and five boards while Brittney had four rebounds and two assists.
Brianna Ball posted another double-double, marking 18 points and 13 rebounds to go with two assists, a block and a steal.
Alanis Hill had 15 points, five rebounds and dished six assists for the Gold and Blue.Â
Elle Baker poured in 12 points while blocking three shot attempts and grabbing five rebounds.
Emilee Whitt was 3-for-6 from three-point range and rounds out Tech's top offensive contributors with ten points. Whitt also had five assists and three boards.
Makayla Jones had four rebounds and four assists while
Alyssa Taylor had four points and four rebounds.
The Golden Bears will return to the court Saturday (February 5) when they travel to Bluefield State for a non-conference match-up.
