BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech wrestling earned a 34-18 victory over Patrick & Henry Community College before taking down Bluefield University 47-6 in Appalachian Athletic Conference action.

Drake De La Cruz finished 2-0 Wednesday evening first taking down Jake Knight of Patrick & Henry with a 16-1 technical fall. At 174 lbs., De La Cruz recorded another technical fall 16-1, this time against Bluefield's Zachary Silver.

The remainder of the wins for the Gold and Blue came against Patrick & Henry including a fall over Trey Kratko by Zach Mullins, who grappled at 133 lbs.

Isaiha Casto posted a technical fall 17-2 over Josh Wright at 184 lbs.

The final bout was won by Jeffrey Bowles who wrestled at 285 lbs. and took down Jaheim Johnson with a fall (1:53).

Exhibition bouts were also won by Golden Bears including a fall (1:04) by Ryan Turney at 174 lbs. and a fall (2:29) by Jackson Evans at 197 lbs.

The team will return to the mat this Friday, January 13 when they travel to Laurinburg, North Carolina to face St. Andrews University and Allen University.
