BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech women's soccer earned a 2-1 River States Conference (RSC) win over Ohio Christian University Thursday. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 4-11-1, 3-6 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 0-13, 0-9 (RSC).
During the half, the Gold and Blue celebrated seniors
Isabella Brandon (Sydney, NSW, Australia),
Emilee Whitt (South Point, Ohio) and
Bailley Nash (Pulaski, Va.)
Freshman
Sofia Filgueira (Spain) recorded her first collegiate goal, unassisted off a rebound in the 16th minute.
Ohio Christian's goal came in the 50th minute from Karlie Tipton.
The final score of the match-up came from sophomore
Isabella Covarrubias (Mexico) who found the back of the net in minute 82 off an assist from freshman
Renee Julia Verheijde (Rhenen, Netherlands).
Sophomore
Sandra Garcia Quilez (Zaragoza, Spain) made two stops and allowed just one goal in the complete game W.
The team will travel to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College this Saturday, October 28 to finish the regular season.
