KINGSPORT, Tennessee -- WVU Tech women's basketball first fell to No. 23 Rust College 87-62 before dropping a 94-64 decision to (RV) University of Pikeville during the NAIA's The Show in Kingsport Friday and Sunday respectively. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 2-6 this season.
As a team, Tech finished 42.6 percent (43-for-101) from the field over two games while shooting 69.4 percent (25-for-36) from the foul line.Â
Sophomore
Alva Hedrich (Muecke, Hessen, German) led the team with a total of 35 points, including 25 points against UPIKE, at The Show. Hedrich also had 14 rebounds and six assists.
Fellow classmate
Rylee Allie (Huntington, W.Va.) poured in 23 points to go with seven boards and three assists.
Freshman
Emily Sharkey (Morgantown, W.Va.) had a career day against Rust College, recording 20 points towards a total of 22 over two games.
Senior
Marquesia Heidt (Townsend, Ga.) and junior
Alexis Sexton (Lexington, S.C.) also hit double-digits over two days, posting 18 and 12 points respectively. Sexton also pulled down 11 boards while Heidt have five.
The Golden Bears will return to River States Conference action Saturday, December 2 when they travel to Alice Lloyd College.
