KOKOMO, Ind. -- WVU Tech women's soccer finished its 2023 campaign after dropping a 6-0 decision to Indiana University Kokomo in a quarterfinal of the River States Conference Championship Saturday evening. The No. 8-seed Golden Bears garnered an overall record of 4-13-1 for the season and the No. 1-seed Cougars will move onto a semifinal at 11-3-5.
Sophomore
Sandra Garcia Quilez recorded ten saves in 90 minutes protecting the net for the Gold and Blue. IU Kokomo's keeper, Sydney Miller, was forced to stop seven Golden Bear attempts.
Freshman
Carson Barr (New Manchester, W.Va.) produced two shots on goal after 81 minutes of play.
Freshmen
Jenna Gue (West Hamlin, W.Va),
Sofia Filgueira (Spain),
Renee Julia Verheijde (Rhenen, Netherlands) and
Ares Canut (Altron, Catalunya, Spain) recorded a shot on goal each.
The Cougars top goal scorer Saturday was Keely Hoopingarner who had three goals towards the hat trick Saturday.
