PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech women's basketball earned an 83-59 River States Conference (RSC) victory at Carlow University for its third straight conference W. The Golden Bears now boast a record of 16-9, 9-5 (RSC) while the Celtics move to 5-18, 1-13 (RSC).
Valiyah Yazzie (Jr.) poured in a Golden Bear career-high 29 points including 4-for-6 from three and 7-for-8 from the foul line. Yazzie was also one rebound of the double-double with nine boards to go with five assists and two steals.
Alva Hedrich (Fr.) posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hedrich also had four blocks and three assists.
Faith N. Silva (Jr.) and
Janaya Berry (Jr.) finished with ten points each. Berry also just missed the double-double with nine rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
Rylee Allie (Fr.) rounded out the top offensive contributors with nine points. Allie also had seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block.
Tech held the Celtics to just 28.9 percent (22-for-76) shooting from the floor while finishing 47.1 percent (32-for-68) themselves. The Gold and Blue also dominated under the boards, grabbing 60 compared to Carlow's 38.
WVU Tech will next host rival University of Rio Grande during Homecoming on Saturday, February 11. Admission will be free for all fans beginning at 1 p.m. (women's tip), men follow at 3 p.m.
