WVU Tech sweeps home tri-meet on senior night

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- Golden Bear wrestling defeated University of Pikeville 36-17 before taking down Southern Virginia University 30-22 Thursday evening.

BOUT WINS/NOTES
  • Tech is undefeated in duals this season, 4-0.
  • The team celebrated seniors Ryan Turney, Nicholas Da Silva and John Berton Parks II.
  • Blayson Jordan (133 lbs.) defeated Franciso Ramirez of Southern Virginia with a Fall (3:50).
  • Troy Harris (149 lbs.) recorded a Fall (4:27) against UPIKE and Decision (5-0) versus Southern Virginia.
  • Shannon Fray (165 lbs.) posted a Fall (1:14) over Southern Virginia's Noah James.
  • At 174 lbs., Da Silva had a Fall (3:45) against Randall White (UPIKE) and Turney defeated Tyson Hoopes (SVU) with a Fall (6:35).
  • Parks (184 lbs.) scored a Major Decision (10-2) versus Hank Svedin of Southern Virginia.
  • Maxwell Underwood was undefeated at 285 lbs. -- Fall (3:22) vs. UPIKE and Technical Fall (19-1, 2:37) vs. SVU. 
  • In an exhibition, William Stricklin (285 lbs.) recorded a Fall (0:39) against Southern Virginia's Jonathan Cox.
