Golden Bears sweep Bowling Green in R6 showdown

BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech Rainbow Six Siege earned its first victory of the 2025–26 campaign Tuesday night, sweeping Bowling Green in a best-of-three series from the Golden Bear Esports Lab. The Golden Bears won back-to-back maps, Chalet (7–5) and Skyscraper (7–2), to close the series 2–0.

The lineup featured Noah Tucker (bizzy.biyombo), a junior from Lebanon, Tenn.; Andrew Gwinn (amgscythe), a sophomore from Beckley, W.Va.; Tobias Hill (S4ladS4lad), a sophomore from Daniels, W.Va.; Aiden Mills (Solarfrogs), a sophomore from Lester, W.Va.; and Shannon Fray (FrodyG), a senior from Gulfport, Miss. Together, the Golden Bears turned in strong performances across two maps, showing grit on Chalet in Game One before commanding Skyscraper in Game Two.

Rainbow Six Siege 101

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical first-person shooter by Ubisoft where teams alternate attacking and defending bomb sites inside buildings. Attackers can breach walls, windows, and floors, while defenders use fortifications and gadgets to hold sites. Each NECC game is 12 rounds, switching roles after six; the first to seven rounds wins the map. Matches are decided in a best-of-three series.


Program History

Rainbow Six Siege is one of WVU Tech's newest esports titles, added in Fall 2023. The Golden Bears quickly made their mark, winning the NECC Navigators Division National Championship in Spring 2024. Now in their third season, Tech competes in the NECC East A Division IV, continuing to build on early success.
