PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — WVU Tech women's soccer earned its fifth consecutive victory Thursday, shutting out Shawnee State 3-0 in the River States Conference Game of the Week at Shawnee Turf. The Golden Bears moved to 5-2-2 overall and 2-0 in RSC play while staying unbeaten on the road at 4-0-1.
Sophomore Martina Latapi Gomez opened the scoring in the 24th minute, assisted by Julia Silva. The Golden Bears doubled their lead early in the second half when freshman Rocío Gutiérrez struck home a goal off Latapi Gomez's setup. Silva closed the night in the 87th minute with her sixth goal of the season, also adding an assist.
Tech's defense continued its strong run, securing its fourth shutout of the year and third in the last five matches. Senior goalkeeper Sandra Garcia Quilez finished with three saves while lowering her goals-against average to 1.22.

Shawnee State's Lucia Arbide led the hosts with four shots. Goalkeeper Harlee Brand registered seven saves against 10 shots on target.
