BECKLEY, W.Va. — From game-winning goals to roaring crowds and championship moments, many of the images that define WVU Tech athletics have one thing in common: they were captured through the lenses of James Holloway and Dr. Deb Beutler.
For nearly two decades, Holloway and Beutler have volunteered their time and talent to photograph Golden Bear athletics. They are a familiar sight on the sidelines, in Van Meter Gym and at Paul Cline Stadium, often attending nearly every home event and occasionally traveling on the road. After each contest, they edit and upload their photos to Flickr, making them available to student-athletes, coaches, staff, families and fans free of charge.
Their work isn't just a collection of images — it's a visual history of WVU Tech athletics.

In addition to his volunteer photography, Holloway serves as a WVU Tech employee and provides all head shots and team photos used across rosters, social media and more.

"James and Dr. B have been documenting Golden Bear moments for generations of student-athletes," Athletic Communications Director Becky Brouse Davis said. "Their photos are part of the heartbeat of this department. I am so grateful for the countless hours they give to help us tell our story."
The next time you see them behind the camera at a game, meet or match, be sure to give them a big Golden Bear thank you — a high five, fist bump or hug. Their generosity, talent and dedication make a lasting difference.
💛🐻 WVU Tech Athletics thanks James Holloway and Dr. Deb Beutler for their years of service and their continuing impact on the Golden Bear community.
