WVU Tech closes fall season at Bluefield State Intercollegiate

DANIELS, Va. — WVU Tech men's golf closed out its 2025 fall season at the Bluefield State Intercollegiate, finishing 8th in a 17-team field with a 54-hole team total of 924 (+84) at Fincastle Golf Club. The Golden Bears were led by freshman Heidar Bjarnason, who fired a 66 in Round 2 and tied for 19th individually at +14 (224).

The Golden Bears' B team also competed, posting a 970 (+130) to place 15th overall.

Team Notes: Bjarnason's second-round 66 was one of the lowest scores of the tournament and tied for the best round by any Golden Bear this fall.

🏆 Final Notes
This marks the close of WVU Tech's 2025 fall schedule — a semester that showcased both team depth and individual excellence. The Golden Bears captured two team titles (Roger Merb Invitational and RSC Fall Preview at Glade Springs), earned three individual medalist honors (Cooper at Wally Edgell, Iglesias Pascual at Roger Merb, Bjarnason at RSC Fall Preview), and collected three RSC Golfer of the Week awards (Cooper, Iglesias Pascual, Bjarnason).

WVU Tech also saw continued development from its young core, including freshman standout Heidar Bjarnason, who won his first collegiate title at the RSC Fall Preview and posted a 66 in Round 2 at Bluefield. In total, the Golden Bears racked up 221 birdies and 2 eagles across seven events while competing against multiple top NAIA programs.

The program enters the offseason ranked No. 63 nationally in the latest Clippd ratings. WVU Tech will return to competition in Spring 2026, headlined by the River States Conference Championship at Glade Springs (April 26–28) as the Golden Bears set their sights on a championship run.
