BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech women's basketball opened its 2025–26 campaign with a strong showing on its home floor, defeating Ohio Christian University 82–74 Saturday afternoon at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
The Golden Bears (1–0) found their rhythm in the second half, using a 21–10 third-quarter surge to take control. Tech's depth proved key in the win, as the bench outscored Ohio Christian's reserves 42–16 while converting turnovers into momentum-building points.
Cadence Stewart led the way with 18 points, six assists and six rebounds, hitting four of five from three-point range. Liz Cadle provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, and Avery Lucas and Halle Crouse each added 11. Kennedy Hancock anchored the glass with six rebounds, while Emmanuella Amaefula distributed four assists.
As a team, Tech shot 44.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from deep, and 74.2 percent from the line while forcing 20 turnovers and posting a 42–36 edge on the boards.
