Golden Bears sweep Mississippi State, clinch playoff berth

BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech League of Legends closed out the NECC regular season in dominant fashion Thursday night, sweeping Mississippi State 2–0 to secure the No. 2 seed in the DVII East B playoffs. The Golden Bears improved to 5–1 in conference play and 7–1 overall, officially clinching a quarterfinal berth next week.


Game One (WVU Tech wins 24–3)

Tech opened the night with complete control behind a well-rounded draft of Caitlyn (Bean), Vi (Almightyfoot), Xerath (breathless lol), Neeko (Hilbert), and Ornn (NinjaRemover).

  • Dakota P. Dietz (NinjaRemover) commanded the front line as Ornn, posting a clean 4/1/7.
  • Anthony Biley (Almightyfoot1221) surged through the jungle with Vi, finishing 9/2/4.
  • Benjamin Lowe (Bean) dealt consistent damage on Caitlyn, contributing 6/0/13.
  • Patrick Hilbert (Hilbert) added 5/0/11 on Neeko.
  • Triston Stover (breathless lol) anchored poke and utility with Xerath, recording 0/0/16 in a no-death performance.

Game Two (WVU Tech wins 31–30)

Tech closed out the series with a gritty, high-tempo win behind a second draft featuring Jinx (NinjaRemover), Sejuani (Almightyfoot), Garen (Bean), Milio (breathless lol) and Xerath (Hilbert).

  • Lowe (Bean) led the damage charts on Garen, finishing 11/8/12.
  • Hilbert continued his strong night on Xerath with a 10/4/11 line.
  • Dietz added 4/6/18 as Jinx.
  • Biley contributed 1/7/14 as Sejuani.
  • Stover supplied 5/5/18 on Milio.
