RIO GRANDE, Ohio — WVU Tech wrestling continued its 2025–26 campaign Friday evening, traveling to the University of Rio Grande for a tri-meet with the host RedStorm and Defiance College. The Golden Bears earned several individual victories across both duals, highlighted by bonus-point performances from Jeremiah Chinyere-Okiyi II, Curtis Smith, and David Maxson.
WVU Tech opened the night against Defiance College of the Wolverine–Hoosier Athletic Conference, starting strong with three straight forfeits at 125, 133 and 141 pounds. Corbyn Cunningham added a major decision at 149, and Adams S. Turpin-Abdulrazaaq Jr. closed the dual with a tight 2–1 decision at heavyweight. Defiance secured the dual through depth in the upper weights to take the win.
In the second dual of the evening, the Golden Bears faced Rio Grande, a Mid-South Conference program that appears in the NAIA Receiving Votes category and features four nationally ranked wrestlers.
