The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Jan. 5–11, 2026. This week’s honors go to junior guards Cadence Stewart and Kyra Brown of women’s basketball following WVU Tech’s pair of road conference victories.

Cadence Stewart (Ronceverte, W.Va.)

Stewart delivered a complete all-around performance during WVU Tech’s 2–0 week, totaling 25 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and six steals across two road wins. She played heavy minutes in both contests and consistently impacted the game on both ends of the floor.

The junior helped anchor the Golden Bears’ defensive pressure and rebounding effort, contributing across multiple categories as WVU Tech picked up back-to-back conference victories.

Kyra Brown (Charleston, W.Va.)

Brown provided efficiency and defensive disruption during the Golden Bears’ unbeaten week, scoring 21 points while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from three-point range. She also added seven rebounds, six assists and a team-high 10 steals.

Her perimeter defense and timely scoring helped set the tone in both road wins, as WVU Tech limited opponents and forced turnovers throughout the week.
