BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech's Ralph Aaron Etaba Ateba, known in-game as Wreck, recorded a dominant 4-0 sweep over Plymouth State University's KINGTANAKA on Tuesday night in ECAC Street Fighter 6 regular season play inside the Golden Bear Esports Lab.
Etaba Ateba, competing at the Diamond rank level, controlled the match from the opening round and secured four straight victories in the best-of-seven format. The freshman from Ijamsville, Maryland, used Terry Bogard to overpower his opponent and close out the contest with a four-game win streak.
The victory marks the second consecutive sweep for the Golden Bears. Etaba Ateba also earned a 4-0 win over the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis on March 3.
WVU Tech opened the season with a 4-0 sweep of North Carolina Wesleyan University on Feb. 3 before falling to Northern Kentucky University (0-4) on Feb. 10. The Golden Bears then dropped a competitive 4-2 decision to SUNY Fredonia on Feb. 17 and narrowly fell 4-3 to Central Connecticut State on Feb. 24.
With Tuesday's victory, WVU Tech now stands at 3-3 overall in ECAC Street Fighter 6 play this spring.
