Golden Bears continue spring at UNOH Kick Off

THOMSON, Ga. — WVU Tech golf continued its spring season with a strong showing at the UNOH Spring Kick Off, finishing seventh in the team standings at the three-round event held at Belle Meade Country Club.

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 976 (326-321-329) across the tournament. The event was played on the par-72 course at 6,487 yards, with teams completing two rounds Monday and a final round Tuesday.

Sophomore Sean Cooper led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing 25th overall with a three-round total of 239 (+23). Cooper opened with rounds of 80 and 80 before closing with a 79 in the final round.

Mathias Maldonado followed with a 28th-place finish at 244 (+28), carding rounds of 79, 79 and 86.

Roberto Peiró Llobell finished tied for 31st with a total of 246 (+30), posting consistent rounds of 82, 82 and 82.

Parker Vannoy placed tied for 36th at 250 (+34) with rounds of 88, 80 and 82, while Valentin Jimenez Nuñez finished 47th overall at 262 (+46) after rounds of 85, 84 and 93.

Eric Heinold rounded out the lineup with a 50th-place finish, posting a three-round total of 271 (+55) with scores of 92, 89 and 90.

As a team, WVU Tech continued to build momentum throughout the spring, improving its placement from its previous outing and competing closely within the middle of the field.

Truett McConnell claimed the team title with a score of 901 (+37), while SCAD Atlanta's Brian Berta earned medalist honors with a three-round total of 220 (+4).

WVU Tech returns to action March 30–31 at the Patriot Invite in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
