Golden Bears battle to 5 in nationals quarterfinal

BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech Overwatch competed on the national stage Friday night, falling just short in a tightly contested NECC Division VII Nationals Quarterfinal, 3-2, against No. 4 Concordia Nebraska inside the Golden Bear Esports Lab.

The Golden Bears pushed the higher seed to the limit in a back-and-forth best-of-five series, forcing a decisive fifth map after trading wins throughout the match.

Game 1 – WVU Tech 2, Concordia 1

The Golden Bears opened the series with a strong performance, controlling key fights to take an early 1-0 lead.

Concordia responded in the second map, capitalizing on key engagements to even the series.

WVU Tech delivered its strongest performance of the night, showcasing dominant team play.

In a tightly contested final map, Concordia edged out the win to claim the series.
