Jordan Hosey

Hosey enters his fifth season at WVU Tech and his third full season as head coach of both the men’s and women’s cross country and track teams. He spent his first year and a half at Tech as an assistant for both programs and was promoted to head coach in January 2024.

Hosey has led the Golden Bears to new school records during every track season since he has coached at Tech. In total, 46 school records have been broken at least once since Hosey joined the coaching staff. Broken down, there have been 10 indoor track records on the men’s side, 16 indoor track records on the women’s side, 11 outdoor track records on the men’s side and nine outdoor track records on the women’s side during his four years. Some of the top performers under Hosey have included Isaac Agee, Ralph Etaba Ateba, Carmen Camino, Rebecca Lorincz and Hailey Ervin.

Agee set six new individual records and was part of the 4x100 relay team that set a seventh. He also qualified for the indoor national championship in the 60-meter hurdles and the outdoor national championship in the 110-meter hurdles. He finished second at the conference meet in both hurdle events.

Etaba Ateba set three new individual records and was part of the 4x100 relay team that set a fourth. He finished third in the 400-meter hurdles at the outdoor conference meet.

Camino set eight new individual records under Hosey’s coaching and also held several others prior to his arrival. Under Hosey, Camino earned four podium finishes at the indoor conference meet, including second-place finishes in both the mile and 3,000 meters during the 2023 indoor season. At the 2024 indoor conference meet, she finished second in the mile and third in the 3,000 meters. During the 2023 outdoor season, she won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the conference meet. During the 2024 outdoor season, she finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Lorincz set six new individual records and was part of the 4x400 relay team that broke the school record at the indoor conference meet, giving her seven school records. One highlight came when she broke the outdoor 800-meter school record in her first-ever 800-meter race at the WVU Last Chance Meet.

Ervin set six new individual records and was also part of the 4x400 relay team that broke the school record, giving her seven records.

Hosey graduated from West Liberty University in May 2022 with a master’s degree in education with a concentration in coaching and sports leadership. He also earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from West Liberty in May 2020.

Hosey was a member of the track and field and cross country teams at West Liberty throughout his college career. His most notable achievements as a college athlete included finishing seventh in the steeplechase at the Mountain East Conference meet in 2021 and finishing that season with a time of 9:41 in the steeplechase.

He resides in Beckley with his girlfriend and their cats and dog. In addition to running, Hosey enjoys following sports such as football, basketball and soccer. He also enjoys traveling with his girlfriend to explore new restaurants, attend games, visit amusement parks, hike and watch movies and shows together.
