Jenna Everhart

Jenna Everhart completed eight seasons as head coach of the WVU Tech women’s basketball team after assistant coaching stints including assisting Bob Lindsay at Kent State for six seasons. Everhart earned her 100th win as head coach during the 2017-18 season with a 90-63 victory over Bluefield State College on January 31, 2018.

 

During the 2012-13 season, Everhart led the Gold and Blue to an A.I.I. Tournament Championship which led to a bid to the NAIA national tournament. Jenna was also named the A.I.I. Coach of the Year for the remarkable season.

Under the helm of Everhart, Tech had seven Golden Bears earn All-American accolades including four players, Courtney Sturdivant, Nia Nolan, Cheyanna Lusk and Savannah Shamblin, earning the honors multiple times. In 2015, Nolan was named the A.I.I. Player of the Year while also earning all-academic honors.

The Griffith, Indiana native began her collegiate career in basketball at Stetson University where she was a four-year letter winner and earned her bachelor’s degree in sports administration. Everhart was named team captain during her senior season after winning the team’s Sixth Man Award the previous year. The former Hatter also served as the president of Stetson’s S Varsity Letterman’s Club.

 

Jenna earned her master’s degree in Public Service Administration from DePaul University where she served two years as a graduate assistant and one year as an assistant coach under Doug Bruno. While at DePaul, Everhart helped guide the Blue Demons to a National Tournament (NIT) invitation in 2000.  Everhart also served as the Assistant Marketing Director in addition to her coaching duties.

 

Next, Everhart moved on to Charleston Southern University where she served as the 1st Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator for a season before returning to her alma mater as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. During her two seasons as an assistant at Stetson, Everhart was responsible for monitoring student-athlete academic progress and assisting in the tutoring of the women’s team which resulted in five Dean’s List students and the retention of 100% of the Hatters’ scholarship athletes. Jenna was also responsible for expanding Stetson’s community outreach as well as the management, instruction and strategy execution for the Hatters in the gym.

 

After her successful stint at Stetson, Coach Everhart accepted a position as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Kent State in 2004. While with the Golden Flashes, she played a large role in the recruitment of very successful and decorated Golden Flash student athletes which included: 12 All-conference (MAC) selections, two Defensive Player of the Year Awards, over 22 Player of the Week Awards, six Academic All MAC Awards, six MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week Awards, two All-Freshman Team selections, 2006 MAC Player of the Year, CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Player of the Year, four NCAA Academic All-District Awards, four CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans as well as a Third Team All-American Selection.

 

Not only was Coach Everhart a part of a program that knew how to get things done on the court, under the tutelage of head coach Bob Lindsay, she also was very successful on it. In her six years with the program, the Golden Flashes amassed an impressive 105-75 record.
