Sophomore Matheus Montarroyos has been named a Golden Bear Star Performer for December 3-9.
Montarroyos helped the men's swim team to a second place finish at the Union College Winter Invitational. In the relays, Montarroyos split a 21.15 for the second place 200 Freestyle relay, 46.48 in the Freestyle leg of the second place 400 Medley relay, 1:44.66 anchoring the second place 200 Medley relay and 46.66 anchoring the second place 400 Freestyle relay.
In his individual Freestyle events, the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native claimed first in the 500 (4:37.95), second in the 200 (1:44.15) and third in the 1650 (16:32.35).
Montarroyos is majoring in mechanical engineering at WVU Tech.
