We are catching up on Golden Bear Athletes of the Week and those for March 7-13, 2022 were announced Wednesday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Senior Scott Ellars (esports) and sophomore Francesco Calderon (baseball) highlight that week's honors.

A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Ellars helped lead the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate squad to a victory over Glenville State in the NACE Starleague tournament. Tech defeated the Pioneers with the team of Ellars, Eli Brown, Hayden Mathers and Trenton Smith.

Calderon, who hails from Guayaquil, Ecuador, tallied four hits towards five RBI for the Gold and Blue. The senior also was perfect in the field with a percentage of 1.000 including 30 putouts.
